As well as every game have a setting, it also has characters, rules and a genre. The genre deals with the feel of the game. Star Wars would be considered (by most) to fall into the Science Fiction genre. D&D falls under the Fantasy genre. Some games are cross-genre games, and some are very difficult to classify in any genre.


List of Genres

(This list is by no means comprehensive. Some RPGs fall under more than one genre. Some rule systems are designed to be flexible enough to be used for multiple genres.)
